Electric GT’s electric Ferrari 308 GTS is headed to Barrett-Jackson

The all-electric Ferrari 308 GTS started its life as an actual 308 GTS, complete with a 3.0-liter V-8 engine that produced 255 horsepower. At some point in its life, this 308 GTS was destroyed by a fire because of a leak in its fuel line. It was in that condition when Electric GT got its hands on it. Instead of letting the elements have their way on the car, the company decided to restore the old Ferrari back to prominence, while also giving it an extra twist in the form of a three-motor HPEVS AC-51 unit and a battery pack, set-up in a V-8 configuration.

The result is the first all-electric Ferrari in the world, albeit one that didn’t come directly from Maranello. The first-of-its-kind setup helped the electric 308 GTS achieve an output of 330 pound-feet of torque, which works in concert with a five-speed manual transmission to help the car hit a top speed of 185 mph. That’s impressive considering that the “standard” 308 GTS only had a top speed of 158 mph.

If you didn’t know any better, you might think that this Ferrari 308 GTS is one of the 3,129 308 GTS units that Ferrari made. That’s a credit to Electric GT and the work it did when it decided to rebuild it from scrap a few years ago. But now the electric Ferrari is all set to find a new owner. The car has a “no reserve” listing on the Barrett-Jackson page so it could literally go for any amount. If you decide to have a go at owning this one-of-a-kind Ferrari 308 GTS, here’s your chance to turn that goal into reality.

The 2018 Barrett-Jackson auction will take place in Scottsdale, Arizona, from January 13 to 21. Better get that checkbook ready.
